A marriage of Ancient Egyptian art and Modern British craft.
Travel back over four thousand years to the banks of the winding Nile in North-Eastern Africa. Here you’ll find yourself in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, celebrated as the ‘Age of the Pyramids’ and a golden time in Egyptian history.
As the pyramids began to shape the skyline, the kingdom’s artisans started to explore the craft of glassmaking and so a new tradition was born. This skill has travelled down through the centuries to modern-day Egypt where talented glassblowers uphold their history by continuing this work today.
Our colourful collection of glass candlesticks was designed by Issy in celebration of this rich history and mouth-blown and hand-painted by artisans in Cairo. As the candlesticks are all handmade, no two are quite the same. Each one has been made with precision and skill and is a both practical glass candle holder and an exquisite piece of art.
As the light dances off and through these elegant candlesticks, they are an eye-catching addition to a mantelpiece or dining table. Tall glass candle holders sit beautifully as single statement pieces, to create perfect symmetry in pairs and when combined with other designs from the collection.
Closer to home our colourful Dinner Candles are hand-drawn on the South West coast of England. The candlemakers have over 25 years of experience perfecting this precise art and science. Our tall and elegant wax candles are made on two traditional drawing machines. The team fix a number of cotton wick strings around the large cylinder drums of the drawing machines in a figure of eight shapes and the wicks then loosely glide through a pool of hot molten wax between the drums. As they go through the wax, the wicks are coated layer upon layer until the perfect candle diameter is reached.
Our coloured candles come in sets of six and are hand packaged in an Issy Granger box. They fit snugly into our Egyptian Candle Holders and are a beautiful addition to the home.
